United Way of Racine County
United Way of Racine County is a nonprofit organization committed to harnessing the caring power of the community to build a place where everyone can thrive. Through strong partnerships, strategic initiatives and community-driven programs, they focus on expanding youth opportunity, promoting financial security and fostering a healthy, resilient Racine County. Their work brings together diverse sectors and empowers individuals and families to drive lasting, positive change.
Scroll down to explore three projects I designed for United Way.
Project 1: Hoop Dreams & Clean Machines: The Science Fair Race
This project was a collaboration between United Way of Racine County, Modine Manufacturing, Racine Unified School District, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Students from two of United Way’s community schools, Knapp and Julian Thomas Elementary, competed in a challenge to build the best battery-powered car using provided and recycled materials. The top teams, selected by their teachers, presented their projects to a panel of judges. The winning team from each school was rewarded with tickets, merchandise, food vouchers and transportation for themselves and their families to a Milwaukee Bucks game. The schools also hosted celebratory assemblies featuring performances by the Milwaukee Bucks’ Rim Rockers and an appearance by their mascot, Bango!
The event received coverage from The Journal Times and CBS 58.
For this project, I was tasked with creating a logo to be used across various mediums, including shirts and ribbons. The logo I designed combines an electric car wheel with a basketball hubcap, symbolizing innovation and sport. The basketball element pays homage to the Milwaukee Bucks and their local significance. A plug bisects the basketball to highlight the electric, battery-powered nature of the vehicles, visually linking the logomark and wordmark. The color scheme incorporates United Way of Racine County’s signature orange alongside Modine’s red and grey. The phrase “Hoop Dreams” uses the bold Antonio typeface, while “& Clean Machines” is set in the capitalized but not bolded Palanquin typeface, creating a balanced and cohesive look. These typefaces align with United Way’s refreshed branding for a modern and unified design.
Project 2: Community Schools, Community Strength Campaign
This campaign was created to raise funds in support of United Way’s community school initiative. Community schools serve as neighborhood hubs, providing essential resources and programming that benefit students, families and local residents.
The campaign included a mix of print and digital materials, as well as interactive experiences—such as a dedicated webpage, school tours, postcard, mailing and videos. Each element worked together to clearly communicate the value of community schools and why they are worth investing in. I designed the following collateral:

Project 3: 2025 UNITED Down the FairWAY
United Way’s annual golf outing is a chance to enjoy a day on the green while supporting the impactful work we do in the community. The event raises funds through sponsorships, as well as individual and corporate golfer participation. For this event, I designed a registration banner and hole signs, collaborated with local printer Econoprint to produce these items, and created event programs included in each golfer’s goodie bag.
